Right.

One of the weirdest compliments I ever overheard someone give(to someone else, not to me), was 'Your online personality is the same as who you are in real life.'

Essentially saying, 'When I read you, it's exactly the same as when I hear you in person. As I know you.'

I always wondered why that was a good thing.
Not so much even a good thing as it was a compliment.

Shouldn't you exhibit a side of you that's unique from your 'everyday you', when you write? Different from the one that you usher in to work every day? Present everyday to everyone? Everywhere. Can't you portray a better creature? At least through the pen or the stroke of a key, than you can, or do, otherwise?
The 'you', you?
